Employment and Training
The Munsee Delaware Employment and Training Department’s mandate is to provide meaningful employment and training initiatives for on and off-reserve members for the betterment of the community as a whole. Our role is to help people get the training and skills they need to secure meaningful employment and achieve their goals.
The Munsee Delaware Employment and Training department delivers funding for training through an agreement with Service Canada. The department also coordinates Summer Career Placements through a partnership with Service Canada and Indian and Northern Affairs Canada. These programs provide start-up funds, employment assistance, on-the-job training and financial assistance for the purchase of training.
If you’re out of work, or lack the necessary skills to get the job you want, drop by our office to talk with us. We provide the following services and materials to help you in your job search:
* tips on how to write an effective resume and covering letter
* job search advice
* job board
* internet/computer access
* faxing of resumes
* resource material
* help developing action plans to help clients gain employment
* tips on how to become ‘more employable’ in the eyes of a potential employer
* and advice/support on returning to school to gain skills and training
The Munsee Delaware Employment and Training Department also holds job fairs in the community to showcase various employment opportunities to community members. Be sure to watch for these special events.
